Clay Suns

We thought this would be a great way to discuss National Hispanic Heritage month with my 3D art class. I wanted to do a slab roller lesson for them to get use to using it on their own. We focused on the Aztec suns and how some of them were designed. We then took to creating our own individualized suns by adding pieces of clay and practicing slip and scoring. Scroll down to see more. They were fired at 04 slow from greenware to bisque. Then once bisqued we used stroke n coat glazes and fired on 06 fast. Lovely lesson and I will do it again.
