Louise Nevelson

Here is a great middle school project if studying Louise Nevelson!  For other Louise Nevelson Projects, Click HERE!

How did the project go down?

Each student used the foam core board as the base.

We cut strips of foam core and hot glued strips to board to make individual compartments.

Then, we glued random stuff in the compartments with hot glue gun.

Next...we spray painted white.

L👀KIE!

Cardboard Cut-Out Collage

Get a canvas panel.
Get some cardboard.
Cut the cardboard into squares and rectangles.
Paint the cardboard pieces shades and tints of the primary and secondary colors.
  • My kids did 3 shades and 3 tints of each color.
  • So, there were 36 tints and shades of the primary and secondary colors.
  • Then, they did 14 random colors of their choice.
So, they painted 50 rectangles/squares.
Paint the canvas panel whatevs.

That is all.

Maclay Visual Arts Supports Big Bend Habitat For Humanity's Festival Of Trees

If you teach art, you must get involved in your school's culture and community. Here is one idea around Tallahassee:  Big Bend Habitat for Humanity's Festival of Trees. Yes, we used our regular lesson's art work and created photos of them which we in turn made laminated ornaments out of to decorate our CrEaTiVe Tree!  Then you must spread the word on social media. This was such a good out reach for our student artists.

Donations of "STUFF" in the art room (Nasal Aspirators / Paper Mache)

We call nasal aspirators (boogar woofars) I don't know it is one of those things that just happen =) We have a ton of these from a fabulous parent donor. Over the years, I have seen several creative things made out of them but recently, I have had several ducks. Gotta love them! Moral of this story, just give it time on some of those donations and they will turn into super cool pieces of art!

Oh no, I left my glue gun on!

So. If you are forgetful like me, u may leave ur glue gun on. What to do? Get a piece of old tin and place ur gun on it. I used to paint on tin like Georgia folk artist Howard Finster. I just used tin snips to cut a corner off my painting. Here is a pic.
