Have you ever heard of Peter Diem? If not click the link below
Dutch artist Peter Diem (1945) paints like a tornado and lives his art.
Bold, intrepid colors, thick succulent paint, and daring sensual lines
are the hallmark of his paintings. They reflect his lust for life, his
sense of humor, and his distinct individuality. The powerful paintings
are thus representative exponents of his turbulent lifestyle.
In his early twenties Peter Diem exchanged the Netherlands for the
United States. He spent his days making a living as a lithographer, but
his soul was saturated with the paintings he worked on in his studio at
night.
Peter was, and still is, fascinated by the COBRA group (a school of
art emerging from COpenhagen, BRussels and Amsterdam), who were wildly
experimental. Through this inspiration, color became his most important
means of expression.
