Celebration of The Arts-Painting with Faculty and Staff

So the week before our Week of Gratitude started...I found this on my desk which set the tone for the following days! Maclay, you always support the arts and send out good vibes to your teachers in one form or another....especially Wellness! I am going to do multiple post on this week, so stay tuned for all of the fun!
This year, we chose to collaborate with Guidance and create a week of Gratitude encompassing Wellness and the Visual Arts. Above is the sample painting that will be guided with one of our teachers, Kyle. Below is a link that we can share on how the Celebration of the Arts got started here on Maclay's campus...

Hard at work...We love us some Fiona! or "FINNNONA" is I call her. When you are a faculty kid you get to carry on with some teacher shenanigans.
Mid week - Team was busy and crushing it!
Katilyn and Kyle had this part all set up and organized for the event.
Just a sample piece of work! How did we get the word out to our faculty and staff? Guidance sent out a digital invite. This was to secure how many places needed to be set, supplies bought, etc...
Kyle took charge and ordered the supplies.
Big Screen was set up for instructional use.
ONE School at it's best!
Hands - On and lots of smiles!
Well - Hey there, Mrs. Houst"Y" You have a special place in my heart as you were 1969's daughter's PK teacher. Yes, we have blogged on her before!

Loving those flowers!
It is all in the details.
Cool background...
My friend is thinking this one through...
Texture...and we are all learning.
YELLOW... boy this POPS!
Some kind of seriousness going on here...Rachel in deep creative thought!
Soon after this, Dr. O announced she was PG with #2. Could the blue be for her thinking baby #2 is a boy? Ha, ya never know!
I see movement in those strokes.
Soaking it all in on this fun afternoon.
Our Guidance Counselors sent this out to each division:

Hello (Insert Division Here - LS, MS, US)! Several of you have already responded but I want to encourage everyone in US to RSVP. It would be great to finalize the count by noon tomorrow (Tuesday, 04/13). N. Davis and a few of her fellow parent peeps are heading up some delicious sounding food! She and her peeps are also providing lemonade and tea.

I really hope you will attend. We hope to have a relaxing time!

*Did the trick - it was a full house*

Another RSVP type email:

Hi Middle School Teachers! We are grateful for you!
Guidance and Art are sponsoring a Paint Party in Cartee Gym tomorrow. PTO will be serving us cucumbers with buffalo chicken salad and cookies (individually wrapped) and fruit infused lemonade! Please join us and RSVP as soon as you can so we can get a final headcount.

You can tell this was a group collaboration with many pieces being involved. Everyone had to step up and do their part for it to be pulled off and it was. Faculty are still talking about how much fun it was.
TASTY TREATS for the sweet tooth.
Our MPO never disappoints.

Teachers were encouraged to sign up for a drawing for the examples. Then the winner from each division was announced. This was like the activity that just kept on giving. Good memories and a laid back chill environment.

By the way, Katie loves when I take pictures of her....bahahahahaha (NOT)
Remember, Fiona above? Well, this is her mom on the right above.
Team work and support - see another faculty kid getting in on the action.
Well, look...even college counseling was all hands in...
Kerner, has been missing Wellness Thursdays. She loves to throw on the potter's wheel. You can search the blog for Wellness and those post will come up. Hopefully, next year our activities on campus will look more normal.

Middle School Administration not missing out =)

Like I stated earlier...stay tuned for more information on our Celebration of The Arts and Art of Gratitude Week. You might even be inspired to start something like this at your school. If you ave any questions, just drop a comment or email us!

Thanks for dropping by and just know that the one of the main reasons these type of events are so successful is due to the support of the Fine Arts at our school.
