Paper Mache Turkey

One of my favorite lessons with this years COTA Class. Yes, we made paper mache turkeys. Stay tuned to see what we do with them. The students were given newspaper and a paper cup to create the shape of the turkey. They then used paper mache wrap. Once this dried, the artists used paint and accessories to finalize the projects. I am grateful to have such creative students. I do think that being an art teacher is one of the best jobs around!

Bulletin Board That Packs Layers of an Art Lesson!

So my friend, Mrs. Hicks did it again! This bulletin board packed a ton of learning in one visually pleasing bulletin board for all to see on our campus. The first and fourth graders revisited learning about the elements and principles of art. This is a great way for lower school art to scaffold curriculum into the next grade level as seen here with 1st and 4th grades. Cathy does this with ease!
Each student was successful and so proud to see their art work hanging in the lower school commons.
Several skill sets taught here!
Love the little trees off in the background.
Ooooo La La that deep purple!
Comment below how you display your student work!
Ok, this one just oozes artsty goodness.
Hallmark Card wothy...just saying...
Other lesson we have blogged on with Heather Galler:
Great lesson to teach details!
Repetitive patterns.
Vertical and Horizontal paper lesson.
