family vacation reflections and picasso at the pawn shop

by karen #1965 third grade teacher...so we went on a family vacation a few years ago...a bit rigorous...the trip began at 5:00 AM with a 10 mile hike down into the bottom of the grand canyon...well, you hike and eat a snack and take a drink about every 30 minutes...u must do this to prevent dehydration and such...also, everything you take in, must come out...AND I MEAN EVERYTHING...then, you get to the phantom ranch that is the only lodging facility below the rim of the grand canyon...here is a pic...

after walking 10 miles downhill for 8 hours, u find yourself doing what they call the "canyon shuffle"...you are so sore that shuffling ur feet is about all you can do to move ur body forward...after a great meal and a good night's sleep...you get on a boat that looks like this...for 5 days...

here is our group...fun times with people from chicago, new york city, washington state, arizona, and southern california...(yellow shirt with cowboy hat with hands up...yep!)

and took day hikes in places like this...

and chilled like this...

and did a little temporary heart art along the way like this...

slept in an area that looked like this...

our potty looked like this...

and the potty view was this...

food was great...here is the set-up...

took a bath in the colorado river that was 40 degrees with biodegradable soap...

but when u take a trip like this...u have to go somewhere to get clean...how about las vegas?...so we get to vegas and shower...and head to pawn stars...ever seen these dudes on tv?

and what to my wondering eyes should appear in this pawn shop?..not the pawn stars, but..a pablo picasso...

who wud have ever thought that a picasso would be hanging in a pawn shop?...it is a crazy life full of crazy love..............2 legends singing about crazy love...........................Bob Dylan and Van Morrison

happy sat, feb 1, 2014!

  1. Wow, what a great video. Van the Man and one of his best songs ever, and Dylan too!

Great views, by the way. Looks like a fabulous trip but I'm just not tough enough for that many days without a real toilet!
