When I was in college at University of Georgia, I had a professor named James "Jim" Herbert. If you look him up, be prepared to see risquΓ© π³π³π³π³π³π³π³π³π³π³π³π³π³. He made us open up a can of sardines at 7:50 AM and draw them with oil pastels. I have never forgot that early morning art activity. NEITHER HAS MY NOSE!
For my art lesson, we did not open the cans. Nope. No way. So what did I do?
Lookie here!
π
We watched a video about how sardines are processed.
Click HERE for How Sardines are Processed (nothing like throwing in a little science)
Then, we watched this video by Click HERE for How to Draw Sardines
on YouTube! Great video! The kids sketched and colored.
They added details with whatever "stuff" I could find in the supply closet.
Yes, we had to get out the glue gun.
There are gemstones and foil on some of the fish.
Things Kids MUST DO when Completing the Project:
- when you are done with the project, make sure you re-outline to make it “pop”
- kids must have a can with a label; be creative
- can must be at least half open
- the can must include at least 4 fish
