Clay Rolled Slab Hearts

This project was great because the students were so excited to actually be able to use the slab roller! They are growing independently and learning to just get the job done. The glazes were Stroke N Coat. The wire is from Home Depot. It is 18 gauged galvanized wire on a roll.

This project could be done anytime of year but during February just worked out for us on the wheel schedule.

Wire And Hose Sculpture - Playbill Theme

Have you ever made a wire sculpture in art class? These were so much fun to make. I had one student go above and beyond on her details. She created Playbills that were individualized.

You can learn more here: Abstract Sculpture on the specifics of how these are made. I will be posting all from class soon, but wanted to share this one first.

Other blogs that have information on how to make these:

If you have not tried these, I encourage you to do so. All students enjoyed it!

Easy Echo Drawing Art Project

These are pretty cool. Love the concentration on LINES. Mrs. Hicks does a fabulous job of preparing our students for middle school. They come into me knowing lots about the Elements and Principles of Art.

Have you ever tried this type of lesson? If not, give it a go round. I saw all of the classes and they were all successful in the final product. Just a quick update to let ya see a super cool lesson.
