While in Athens, GA, visiting the college kids, we went to Big City Bread Café for breakfast. As soon as I walked in, I thought, restaurant owners, you sure have some cool art. We ordered and I waited very patiently for this nice gentleman to quit blocking the art by standing by the coffee maker for 3 days. Good grief, dude. Get your coffee, get your cream, and move. There is art to be seen.
Finally, the dude moved.
I snapped the pictures below.
I showed the kids the rooster paintings. I said, "Ok kids, take this project and show you own it." Some of these 5th Graders took the roosters all of the way out of the barnyard to the beach and possibly even to Van Gogh's "Starry Night".
It is hard to believe, but I introduced this lesson, talked about The Big City Bread Cafe's yummy food, and had the kids paint the rooster, all in one class period of 40 minutes.
I tried to get the management to tell me who was responsible for the paintings by email, but no luck. The artist was one that chose not to put their name on their work. Ugh.
If in Athens and you need a good breakfast, Big City Bread Café, is good place to go.
If in Athens and need good music, head to the Georgia Theater to hear bands like Third Eye Blind.
