Vincent Van Gogh Immersion Experience in Atlanta, Georgia

Have you heard about this? Well, let me tell you it was worth the time and money for us to take a trip to it! I was most impressed. I wish there was one in Tallahassee for me to take my students too. I do love me some Van Gogh, so this is how we spent our 30th wedding anniversary. Most appropriate considering we got engaged back in the day while I was studying abroad with the University of Georgia - Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy.
Here is the link got UGA Program: UGA Cortona - Italy Studies Abroad Programs

Enjoy the photos and check out the links. This was good for my soul. Loved the whole experience and glad I got to spend it with Mr. Left Brain =)

I am glad you popped in for a bit. Yes, the mask detract from the photos of us...but it is what it is, right?!?!? Our arms are too short for selfies, too! Anyone else feel me on that thought? I think we might be back in the groove of posting it just took us a bit.

Alligators & Oil Pastels, CHOMP!

I saw this lesson on Instagram and I thought, I LOVE IT!

Creds go to Joanne Cook.  She is an elementary art teacher.

I was trying to figure out how to teach this and I decided to incorporate Science in this lesson.  I thought, "What is the difference between an alligator and a crocodile?"
I looked it up and found this great video on Youtube.
The guys doing the video were great and my third graders were really interested in finding out the differences!

How did this go down?

The kids practiced drawing alligators or crocodiles.
Then, they drew alligators or crocodiles.
They went over drawings with oil pastel.
Then, they painted with liquid watercolor.

LšŸ‘€K!

Thanks to Joanne Cook for inspiring this lesson!
Hope you love it as much as we did!

Footed Clay Pinch Pots

Aren't these cute? Well, I decided since my art classes haven't really created with clay in over  1.5 years due to covid and the way my schedule has been set up that I would go back to a basic pinch pot lesson and see how it went. Kids nailed the lesson. My criteria was a pinch pot with some form of legs. No theme...I just wanted them to create. Glad my criteria wasn't too stringent. We had a variety of art pieces. Some had lids and legs. Some worked so fast that they wanted to design another one. I think this was a successful data collecting mission for me. So, yeah, my students are amazing and they just jumped right back into the groove of things! We are happy to be back in the art room. We were mobile last year on a cart but I was more like a bag lady...hot mess express. This year is looking up and we are happy to be back playing our music and creating with our classmates!
