Easy Dandelion Spring Art Project

Do you know what Process Art is? What are the five processes of art? Beginning with the spark of inspiration and finishing with the completion of a work, the list below illustrates a guide that portrays the five stages of making art.

Does Your Creative Process Include These 5 Stages?
Inspiration. ...
Percolation. ...
Preparation. ...
Creation. ...
Reflection.

Five techniques used by artists to create fine art include drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and photography.

The salt acts a resist of sorts. The area where the salt touches the paper will be lighter in color. The salt will push the watercolor pigment away and thus the lighter spot will be surrounded by a darker shade. All of this happens in a few minutes and looks so natural and beautiful!

This lesson was a process art kind of day. We wanted to use the salt and play around with this type of watercolor technique. The results were really cool. We chose the idea of a dandelion and Sax Watercolors for the project. Amazing...students now are trying to tweak this concept and add to other projects. Love the spiraling from lesson to lesson!

Have you ever done this? If not, try it. 1969

    1. Hey! We just sketched out the dandelions with pencil. Went over with Sharpie. Used Watercolor to paint around and added salt while still wet. Left on drying rack. Shook off the next morning. They are all so fun to do!
