Overlapping Hearts: A Day of Color and Creativity Inspired by James Goldcrown

This past week in the art room, we explored the vibrant world of James Goldcrown, a British-born, self-taught artist best known for his signature "Bleeding Hearts" murals. His colorful, overlapping hearts have become a symbol of love, unity, and positivity, gracing city walls, canvases, and even fashion collaborations around the world. Goldcrown's work, with its expressive drips and layers, encourages a sense of joy and connection—perfect inspiration for our own creative journey!

For our project, we experimented with watercolor techniques to create our own overlapping heart compositions. Students explored:

🎨 Wet-on-Wet Blending – Letting colors flow and mix naturally for dreamy, soft-edged hearts.
🎨 Layering & Transparency – Using different washes to create depth and movement.

Each student’s piece became a unique expression of color, emotion, and technique—just like Goldcrown’s murals bring life to blank walls. Our classroom transformed into a gallery of vibrant, heartfelt designs, proving that art is not just about technique, but about spreading positivity and creativity.

What’s your favorite way to experiment with watercolor? Let us know in the comments! ❤️🎨
