Clay Gnomes

So, this was my first attempt at clay Gnomes and I LOVED IT! I had to wait extra long for them to dry to make sure we didn't have any explosions in the kiln. The wait was worth it. If you haven't ever made them with students, I encourage you to do so.

 

I had students look at how to draw gnomes in one class then we watch this video below. It was a tutorial on how to make clay gnomes. 

There were several reference pages out for students to take a looksy and get ideas from for their work. They all had especial characteristics. We fired them at 04 on slow then glazed them and fired them fast at 06.
