Yes, this is one of my favorite shows of the year! Such an honor to get to participate and to see such fabulous art from students in Leon County. Thanks, COCA for always including us.

The 2019 Winter Festival Youth Art Exhibition
on display from Nov. 20, 2019 - Jan. 27, 2020
on display from Nov. 20, 2019 - Jan. 27, 2020
The Winter Festival Youth Art Exhibition 2019 showcases youthful talent and imagination through nearly 80 pieces of student artwork. Elementary, middle and high school art teachers submitted work on behalf of their students for the competition. The entries represent 35 different area public and private schools. The dedication and professionalism of our area art teachers is evident in the quality of the student artwork on display in the gallery and the exhibition is stunning.
A public reception for the exhibition begins at 6:00pm on Friday, Dec. 6 in the City Hall Gallery, and lasts until 7:30. The awards ceremony will start at 6:30pm and will be held in the Commission Chambers. It promises to be an evening of great pride for the students and awe-inspired admiration for those who see the exhibit.
This is one of many exhibitions curated by COCA for the Art in Public Places program on behalf of the City of Tallahassee. Our other post on Winterfest from 2015:
Tayley Cotton could not be present for the event but you can check out her ceramic pieces on Instagram @tcpottery She is AMAZING!!!
So, I was very sad to miss the Winterfest activities this year. I had already made plans travel to Memphis to watch my daughter run her first 1/2 marathon with St. Judes. She is a Maclay Alumni and also a former Maclay Visual Arts Student. Once, I told my school art parents my situation they were very supportive and showed up to support our participation in Winterfest. Man, do I feel blessed to work with 3 other visual art teachers that were present and to have the support of our parents. Best job and school EVER!
She finished in 2 hours and 2 minutes.
And, we have the family photo op at the end of the race!
It was bitter sweet to miss the Winterfest event but I am glad that both were a huge success!
Yup, I do have all the feels...super happy with life!
