My 8th graders loved the freedom of this Jasper Johns project, but they struggled with one thing. What? They struggled with scribbling. I had never expected scribbling to be a "thing", but it was. Once they embraced the scribble, the projects evolved into a fun art activity for the kids.

Directions:
I briefly introduced Jasper Johns. I shared some of his artwork.
The kids made words with stencils. They filled in with various shapes.
They kids used liquid watercolor to paint.
