Shading and Shadows

The charcoal shading exercise explored on this page is called 'graduated tone'. It is a drawing technique which can be used to create a strong sense of space and form. It is a very useful skill to develop for charcoal drawings. This drawing technique was quite the surprise and students performed really well during this session. I do believe Kyle did it again, teaching our students to reach higher expectations than expected with a simple instructions that focus on the bigger picture. Love these!
