Face Jugs
This unit is one of the best clay units to teach! I love it. Well, I must LOVE LOVE LOVE it because I have had the kiln "cooking" for a good 3 weeks now....the end is in sight, but I had to post a few of the finished products. If you want to learn more about the face jugs visit this link on the history of the face jugs here. I have really enjoyed researching these face jugs - so much history is behind them. The students were very interested in the history - which was an added plus. This lesson was great at teaching lots of the basic methods in clay. We were able to use the coil extruder (good times with this piece of equipment!). This saved us a good amount of time because we didn't spend half of the 50 minute class period rolling out coils. We had to work on craftsmanship, slip and scoring too. OHHHH, what a super-de-dooper lesson to teach. x0x 1969
I love these jugs. It makes me wish that I had a kiln for my class.
