Art Camp Highlights: Painting Red Georgia Clay Bowls Hand Thrown By Bobo

Hey, Welcome back to more from our Summer Art Camp! Our campers had an amazing time painting beautiful red Georgia clay bowls. These bowls were hand-thrown by Bobo, the talented dad of the 2 Soul Sisters. Let's dive into the fun details of our creative day!

What We Did

Our campers started with special bowls made from red Georgia clay. These bowls had been bisqued (baked once in a kiln) and were ready for painting. Each camper received their very own bowl to decorate.

Painting with Warm Colors

We used warm, inviting colors for our bowls:

  • Sassy Orange
  • Fire Cracker Red
  • Tuscan Red
  • Yellow
  • Black Underglaze pencil to write their names on the bottom of the bowls

We also used a special speckled overglaze to add a unique, colorful finish. The campers loved seeing how the speckles made their bowls even more beautiful and unique the way the flecks melted.

The Process and Experience

Painting the bowls was all about having fun and being creative. Each camper chose their favorite different warm colors to paint their bowls.

After painting, the bowls were fired in the kiln on fast at 06. This helped set the colors and gave the bowls a shiny, finished look.

Practical and Personal Touch

The best part? These bowls can be used in the future! Each camper now has a special ice cream bowl or salsa bowl they can use at home. It's a wonderful keepsake that reminds them of their creative day at Art Camp.

What We Learned

Painting the bowls taught us:

  • How to work with different colors and glazes
  • Patience and care in painting
  • The joy of creating something useful and beautiful

Each bowl was a unique masterpiece, reflecting the creativity and personality of its creator.

Final Thoughts

Art Camp is all about exploring new techniques and having fun. Painting these red Georgia clay bowls was a fantastic experience for everyone. We are so proud of our campers and their beautiful creations.

Stay tuned for more exciting art adventures at Art Camp!

Remember: Art is not just about creating something pretty, but also about making something that brings joy and can be used in everyday life. Keep creating and enjoying the process!

We want to give a huge shoutout to Bobo for always supporting our art ideas. Bobo, you're not just an amazing artist but also a fantastic father.
