Our proposal:
Embedding eMpathy in students using Community Outreach Through The Arts

At a point in history when humanity feels more fractured than ever, empathy has become a topic of great interest. Empathy allows us to make meaningful connections across diverse experiences and with those who are different than us. This integrated curriculum theme encompasses a variety of media using the mind, heart and art together. All educators / disciplines can benefit, let us share with you what has worked for us.

Title of Session:  Embedding eMpathy in Students Using Community Outreach through the Arts

Presenters:  Kim Daniel, Kyle Maurey, Kaitlyn Dressel, and Cathy Hicks, Maclay School

Dear Kim, Kyle, Kaitlyn, and Cathy:

This email is to reconfirm the final arrangements for your presentation at the 2019 FCIS Convention, Learn Today! Learn Tomorrow!on Friday, November 8, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport. Please read it carefully and print it for future reference.

The
Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport is located at: 9300 Jeff Fuqua Blvd, Orlando, FL 32827.

Be sure that the title of your session, your names, and your school are correct, as they appear above. This is how your names will be printed on your name tags and how your names, your school, and your session title will be listed in both the program and the mobile app.

Your breakout session is scheduled at 11:00-11:50am in Gatwick. This room will accommodate approximately 50 people. Participants are not required to register in advance for individual sessions, so there is no way to confirm the exact number of participants. As we get closer to the Convention date, it may be necessary to change some room assignments. Written notice will be sent if this should happen.

All breakout rooms will be set up with “theater” style seating, and this set up cannot be changed. This will allow you to have as large an audience as possible. Each break out room will have a screen, a projector, and a cart. Remember that presenters are expected to bring their own tablets, laptops, and adaptors (to connect to the projector), if needed. In your proposal,  you asked for the following additional AV support:
       • Internet Access
       • Sound

Click here to access the Convention program and mobile app. The program is linked and available to download, and there are also instructions provided for downloading the app. Please review the full description for your session.
At the end of your session, we ask that you reserve time for participants to complete the
feedback survey in the FCIS Convention app. To access the 3-question survey from the app home page, click on the button for the appropriate day, and then select the name of the session. The survey can be found below the session description.

If you are from an FCIS school, a contact at your school will register and submit payment for everyone from your school who is attending the Convention. Please make sure that you are included in your school's registration and payment. If you would like to attend any of the special events (dinners, luncheons, etc.), you will need to let your school's contact know so that she can include it in the school's registration. Upon arrival at the hotel, you should check in at the registration desk. Your speaker name tag will be available there, separate from the other name tags for your school.

The twitter hashtag for this event is:
#FCISConv2019. Share your ideas, takeaways and reflections with the FCIS community.
Thank you for being a part of this exciting event. We look forward to seeing you in November!
