Easy John Burgerman Art Project

Who is Jon Burgerman?  According to his website, he is "a UK born, NYC based artist instigating improvisation and play through drawing and spectacle. He is a purveyor of doodles and is often credited and referenced as the leading figure in the popular 'Doodle' art style." (http://jonburgerman.com/)

For more detailed info, go to Burgerman's website at http://jonburgerman.com/

Directions:

I showed the first graders some of Burgerman's work.
I talked a little about how he became an artist.
Also, showed this video because they get a real sense of what Burgerman is all about.  In the video, he discusses a cool app that he has been involved in creating.  They could really relate to this app.

 Then, they drew with pencil.
Then they outlined with sharpie.
Then, they painted with tempera cakes.
This was a fun project for the kids.

Burgerman's work is very kid friendly.

So out of 18 pieces of art, 9 choose bombs.  Burgerman dropped his bomb on these kids with his art.  Burgerman is the Bomb Diggity.

Here's The Gap Band (1982) singing "You Dropped a Bomb on Me."
