Ceramic Tray (PreK Art) - Unit Study on Lines

Our school has a annual auction the raise money for the school. Our auction is called a GALA. Each year we have different classes / grade levels create items in art class that are art related and we auction them off in the live and silent part of the event. As you can imagine, the children's art is a huge draw for parents. I like to have the classes make things that are functional. Ya know - something that you would want to pull out and use at home or at a Tailgate Party....Go DAWGS;)

This tile tray was painted by over very own PreK artists. We were doing a line study while teaching the Elements of Art. We discussed that lines can look like they have emotions just like we do. A line can be happy, sad, scared, mad, etc...This emotion is depicted by the style the line is drawn or painted in on the tile with the Mayco's Stroke and Coat Glazes.

This tray was bought as a kit from http://www.bisqueimports.com/
If you have not been to Bisque Imports check them out! They have tons of art ideas! If you have an auction at your school please leave me a comment! I would love to hear some of the ideas that you have created to sell in the past years. It is nice to get inspired by our followers! We so appreciate the feedback and the emails!

  1. Great idea! Love the tiles. My K-2 classes painted 3 little tables once for our Spring Fling fundraiser and each table sold for $150!!! We also painted tiles and hung them in the hall when our school first opened...it was a great fundraiser!
