Clay Pinch Pot Turkey's In 3D Art

T'is Turkey time of the year. So, what do you all think about these guys? I love that each one has its own personality! Just like all of my students. Super cool, right? How did we make them? The students created them by using the pinch pot method and the slab roller. Scroll on down for a few more.
A good idea if someone's turkey blows up in the kiln is to have a few extra bisqued bowls around so they can just glaze to make like a turkey. This one is pretty clever.

A few other post on some clay turkeys:

Another blog post on this piece below later, but for now...just know that I was formally observed by my administrator and she decided to make one too =)
Ok, the one below is hilarious. Yes, we all thought it looked like GONZO!

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

One Different Day of The Dead and 9 Regulars

The Day of The Dead Project turned out pretty cool.  I was pleasantly surprised to one of the kids truly make it his on.  Folks, drawing a skull is not as easy as it looks.  Try it sometime.

Directions:

I talked about Day of the Dead Holiday.  For a good overview of the holiday, click HERE!
Then, I showed the 8th graders some examples of sugar skulls.
Once they had a grasp of what they were doing, they got to work.
They colored with oil pastels, then painted.

Look at this one below↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓
Did Nick own it or what?
It is pretty amazing.
This kid works really hard and actually practices drawing in his free time.
I am feeling his career path with include some type of art.
He has skills, I tell ya.
