Collaborative Art and Poetry Project with Third Grade

I love this collaborative project with third grade.  The students do this Auto-Bio Poem in the classroom.  A teacher friend of mine, Renee Ereckson, shared this project with me years ago!  Thanks, Renee!  Renee is an amazing teacher and person!  Anywho, back to the project.
The students filled in the blanks of the Auto-Bio Poem.  Then, they used the Auto-Bio poem to write the real poem about themselves.

Directions:

The kids drew and painted with watercolor their self portraits.
I ran off a 9 x 12 sheet with lines and glued the watercolor portraits on the paper.
The kids filled in on the lines.
They used the Auto-Bio Poem for ideas.
Also, they added some things that they had not put on the Auto-Bio Poem.

That's pretty much it.  The kids loved this project.  They enjoyed drawing and painting themselves.  Also, they loved expressing themselves.

Charles Wright says, "Express Yourself".
