Leaves Blowing in the Van Gogh Breeze

I found this art activity on Pinterest from mrspicasso's art room. (Thanks!)  I decided to adapt and put my spin on the art project.

Directions:
(3rd Grade Project)

I did a little prep work and glued a blue sheet of paper to a black sheet of paper.

In the first session (40 min), the kids did swirls in the background with chalk pastels.  They smeared the swirls with tissue.

During the second session, the kids drew a leaf.  Then, they colored the leaf with oil pastels.  After they completed their leaf, they glued the leaf to the blue/black paper to give the effect of the leaf swirling in the wind.
Have a LOOK!

All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray...
Oops, our leaves are a mix of colors and our sky is blue.

Here's the Mamas and the Papas singing about leaves.
