George Rodrigue - Blue Dog Painting Unit

On March 13 it was George Rodrigue's birthday! I wanted to share some of our Blue Dog inspirations with all you blog readers! You can go to Artsonia here and view our HCES gallery of Blue Dogs. We visited the George Rodrigue website and saw they had a student gallery. Guess what? I contacted them and on his website you can see our student's work! (look for Holy Comforter Episcopal School - Tallahassee, Florida) Ever so COOLZY. Click here to go to the student gallery on George Rodrigue's webpage. This webpage is jam packed with TONS of information. They have an educational packet that you can view here and download. This packet is fabulous...I tell you fabulous!!!!! Lesson Plans GALORE! I did download it while I was teaching the unit and was amazed at all of the information in this free packet! Kudos to George for looking out for folks like us art-education-teachery-bloggers to spread the word! I must admit this was such a fun time in the art room teaching in his style of painting. On Youtube you can find lots of current information on him to share with your classes to make it more real. We used 12x18 paper, pencils, and tempera paint. I taught this less from PK3-4th grade. It was a HUGE success!

Enjoy - Thanks for dropping by to visit! xox Kim 1969
