creative ideas, lava lamps, and a Christmas card

by karen #1965 third grade teacher many of you are creative folks...and don't you feel like this sometimes???...u are creative...people know you are creative...to whom much is given, much is expected...from Dr. Luke 12:48...because you are creative, you must perform on demand...no one realizes there are struggles with possessing these gifts which have been bestowed upon us....struggles, stresses...and stretches of time where the creative process is fighting to find a new thought to pursue...i mean, really...dontcha think that creative ideas are great at hide and seek?

so...now...i must discuss the Christmas card...me and #1969 and our daddy the pottery guy...well..we all have some kind of Christmas card contest...we don't "claim" this to be a competition...side story...one of my friends is always talking about "claiming stuff"...from the sounds of it...claiming is important in life...so anyway...i don't know how this Christmas card deal got started...but it did...

here is how the 2008 Christmas card came to be....
1-i had a thought walking...it was like this...see picture below...
2-i had a good talk with my kids and begged them to participate in the idea a bit far out there for even me...
3-i set up and got the lava cranking...see pictures below.

4-i got the kids situated...they are nice to do this for dear old mother...notice i decided to go with only "lava brand" lava lamps...http://www.lavalamp.com/
lava lamps are so cool...i collect them...

5-we take some random pictures to fill in on the Christmas card...
did i mention that i have the coolest kids in the world?...they are cool and are always supportive of my creative endeavors...
6-then, i get on publisher and create
7-save that joker as a picture file and take it to staples...they are nice and patient and don't look at me like...u r a freak.

that is basically the Christmas card process...

now for a little lava information...
i found this cool...
the inventor of the lava lamp said this...
“If you use my lamp you won’t need drugs" -- Edward Craven Walker
hey, you think he meant motrin?

ending this post of creative strangeness....with this song by The B-52 released in 1978...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sG70rsLUjfQ

Fire, fire, burnin' bright
Turn on your love lava
Turn on your lava light
Fire, oh volcano, over you
Don't let your lava love turn to stone

Keep it burnin'
Keep it burnin' here at home

Oooo Hot Lava
Oooo Hot Lava

happy march 19, 2010!
